Customizer settings won't take effect with Cornerstone on

Hi,

Since recently my website (https://blog.printsome.com/) won’t display styles correctly with Cornerstone activated. The theme is X theme, so there shouldn’t be a problem with that. The X theme customizer settings won’t do anything with Cornerstone ON.

Please check this screencasted video where I explain the whole problem: https://youtu.be/kQdEu54Q_RU

Currently I have Cornerstone deactivated, otherwise my website looks like a mess. I only need Cornerstone in certain parts of the my website. Specifically I use it for a shortcode on some blog posts. So I prefer to have it off while we solve this issue.

Please help.

Hello Edgardo,

Thanks for asking and sharing the video screencast.

Just to let you know that Cornerstone is a required plugin to smoothly run X Theme. As you are using Cornerstone element inside blog post or let’s say if you choose not to use Cornerstone, it’s a required plugin.

Please try out following solutions for the problems you are facing with Cornerstone:

  1. Increase the PHP Memory Limit of your server. Click here for more detailed information and how to increase the PHP memory limit.
  • Make sure that you’re running at least PHP v5.6.x or later to avoid any WordPress related incompatibility issues. If you’re not sure what your server configurations and settings are, install a plugin like WP-Serverinfo (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-serverinfo/) and check your server info by head over to Dashboard -> WP Serverinfo area.
  1. If you’re using a CDN, please clear the CDN’s cache and disable optimization services.

If you still have problems kindly get back to us with the result of the steps above and URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard using the Secure Note functionality of the post to follow up the case.

Thank you.

Hi,

  1. My PHP Memory Limit is set to 512M
  2. PHP version is PHP 7.1.23
  3. We’re not using CDN cache.

Please help.

I’ll give you access below.

Please be careful it is a live site with thousands of visits.

You can activate Cornerstone see what happens and then deactivate it.

Ok, I detected the issue.
It is an incompatibility between Cornerstone and PHP 7.3.0. Once I go back to 7.2.x or lower it is all fine. Or if I upgrade to 7.3 and deactivate Cornerstone is also all fine (except that I cannot use Cornerstone functions, of course).

For now, I will stay with PHP 7.2.x, but I’ll recommend you give support for PHP 7.3 as well.

Hello Edgardo,

Glad to hear that you have figured out the problem. We follow the guidelines laid out by the WordPress community. As of now the recommended PHP version is 7.2. Here at Themeco we recommend our customers to at least use PHP version 7.

Thanks.
