Custom ID Recent Posts

Dear X Team,

I have 2 questions about the “Recent Posts”:

(1) How can I exclude the current post?

I tried copying and pasting the long code you suggested in this page:

but it doesn’t actually work: I still see the current one.

(2) In some posts I would like to show not recent, but custom posts (using the ID of the posts I want).
I tried copying and pasting the long code you suggested in this page:

but it only show one post.

So, my question is “How can I show 2 or more posts?”

I tried using this short code:

[x_post count=“2” post_id=“2194, 1”]

or this one [x_post count=“2” post_id=“2194” post_id=“1”]

but there’s nothing to do… It always shows only one post.

Thanks in advance,

Rick

Hi Rick,

Thank you for writing in, regretfully this isn’t a feature offered by recent posts element and we can not provide support for modifying any Cornerstone element. I advice that you use a plugin instead to output a very flexible recent post content. Something like the Display Posts Shortcode It does offer a lot of parameters. It may look very raw at first but that is one thing good about it, it is fully styleable (with css).

Thank you for understanding.

Hi @friech,

I totally understand you can’t help showing custom posts instead of recent post.

BUT at least please help fixing the current post error:
it doesn’t make any sense to also show the current active post.

Thanks,

Rick

Hey Rick,

Your concern is in the list of feature request. Please stay tuned if the exclude option would be added in the future.

The solution now would be to use Essential Grid and follow this guide to exclude the current post.

Either way, it requires custom coding and has a potential to break your site. If that happens, please consult with a web developer.

Thanks.
