Custom css not publishing

Hi,

Im getting an error message when I try and publish updates to the themes custom css.

“Looks like something’s gone wrong. Wait a couple seconds, then try again”

It has been doing this for a few months now. What could be causing it?

Thanks
Kate

Hi BaysKitchen,

I’m not sure why this is happening for you but I should say that now it is recommended that you avoid adding the custom CSS in the customizer. Instead please add the custom CSS to X > Theme Options > CSS:

If you still experiencing the problem please follow the steps below:

  1. Ensure everything is up to date according to our version compatibility list here. Please follow the best practices when updating your theme and plugins. Click here for more information.
  2. Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third-party plugins, and see if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.
  3. Remove custom CSS and Javascript from the options and/or Child Theme and test the case.
  4. If you’re using a CDN, please clear the CDN’s cache and disable optimization services.
  5. Increase the PHP Memory Limit of your server. Click here for more detailed information and how to increase the PHP memory limit.

kindly get back to us with the result of the steps above and URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard using the Secure Note functionality of the post to follow up the case if you still have problems.

Thank you.

If I add the css there will it overwrite the other css I already have? I was trying to edit it, and as it wont let me delete that css and publish it, I need to know putting the css in the other place will overwrite it.

Also - I’m trying to access X > Theme Options > CSS, but the page doesnt load. I just get the loading graphic.

Hey @BaysKitchen,

The theme’s Global CSS is loaded after the CSS in the Customizer so yes, it will override or have precedence over the Customizer’s CSS.

It sounds like there’s a something going on in your install that is causing the issue in your Customizer and in Theme Options. Did you try what @christopher.amirian suggested? What is the result of each step?

Thanks.
