Cornerstone will load, but it won't save any changes

Hi,

I’ve recently pushed our staging site on WP Engine to production over at https://yinstill.com.

The issue we’re facing is that Cornerstone says it saves (i.e. it says “Yipee” or something to that nature), but the green progress indicator never reaches completion, so the save never goes through.

Can you help us figure out the issue?

Thanks.

Hi There,

Thank you for writing in, we’ve seen this issue before and there are array of things that are possibly causing this. Please do the following and check if its resolve the issue.

  • Your version of Cornerstone (2.0.6) is not the one that is compatible with your X (4.6.4). Please deactivate and delete your current Cornerstone (2.0.6). To re-install it navigate to X Addons and X will automatically install the right version of Cornerstone (1.3.3), then navigate to plugins panel to activate it. (do not edit any of your pages until you reinstalled the CS)
  • Since you just migrated this site, please navigate to Settings > Permalinks and just re-save it with no changes.
  • Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third-party plugins, and see if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.
  • If you have a <iframe>/embedded content on your page (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo, Map, etc.) try removing it and see if that makes your page save.
  • Increase your PHP memory limit, you can follow the guide provided here.
  • Check your PHP and MySQL version, you can use WP-ServerInfo. Wordpress requires version 5.6 and higher (but not 7.2, Cornerstone has a bug on that version). If it is lower than 5.6, contact your hosting support on how you can update this.

If nothing works, then update your X and Cornerstone to the latest versions (5.2.5 / 2.1.7 respectively) since you already have updated your Wordpress to latest version 4.9.4. Also, update all your extensions and plugins to avoid incompatibility issues. Since this is a major update there will be a few things you need to adjust. (see all the changes on our changelog page)

Updating Your Themes and Plugins

Remember to clear all caches (plugin, server-side, CDN, and browser’s cache) after updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

Hope that helps, let us know how it goes,
Cheers!
