Cornerstone will load a page, but freezes when I click "edit"

I purchased the X theme and loaded the template, “auto.”

When I open cornerstone and click the black edit button on a page,
the cornerstone logo just sits there on a white background.

If I just click the page button the page is loaded but can’t be edited.

Then I click the edit button again,
and the page goes back to the cornerstone logo.

Hi There,

Thanks for writing in!

We are really sorry that you are facing issue, Before send us the details of your website to find out what could be the cause of the issue, please check this list for optimizing the website for cornerstone best performance.

Please check for the following first:

  1. Ensure everything is up to date according to our version compatibility list at https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/troubleshooting-version-compatibility/195. Please follow the best practices when updating your theme and plugins. See https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-updating-your-themes-and-plugins/62 for more details.

  2. Clear all caches including browser cache then deactivate your caching plugins and other optimization plugins.

  3. If you’re using a CDN, please clear the CDN’s cache and disable optimization services.

  4. Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

  5. Remove custom CSS, Javascript and templates.

  6. Reset your htaccess file by renaming it to .htaccess-bak. Then in WP Admin Menu, go to Settings > Permalinks and just click the Save Changes button.

  7. Contact your host to increase your allocated memory or do it yourself by adding this code in your wp-config.php

    define( ‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘256M’ );
    define( ‘WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘512M’ );

In case the issue persists, would you mind providing us with login credentials so we can take a closer look? Please provide following information:
Set it as Secure Note

  • Link to your site
  • WordPress Admin username / password
  • FTP credentials
    All the best!

Okay, I tried those things with no luck, I added the secure note above.

Hi There,

Could you please try once more?

I’ve moved this code above the /* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */ line:

define( 'WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M' ); define( 'WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT', '512M' );
Then updated the Authentication Unique Keys and Salts to this:

define('AUTH_KEY',         '#mVqN/[nS/G<,QT>8}y|dKy0snhNt{)J!mdY+%DMILcp.#r2Wx|m|9[+g >8oq`P');
define('SECURE_AUTH_KEY',  'F4E=QRs+v+xxw~=iS9F5eN_9cXJmXP5fW.6r@5`~aSr|TUwG<EY.Z{aB4sHty(A^');
define('LOGGED_IN_KEY',    'GqopD4LU/i?o`^G;|V3ia-RwoBvdATk^d`}*E +m;XXVv^5*B{vVg>MNu;QsE9R7');
define('NONCE_KEY',        'K{LzW>/d7VG==_;^CvkiDa)W)Ef#S$gh^`u-C%;^_#f*hX&o~`Ho2B-Apql)BNx$');
define('AUTH_SALT',        'W/x#!%488D2T</B.IkGkM@?b%nO_(?LAk}}$XY@yopZF.mtRw=bDU L=!c#^Vc~$');
define('SECURE_AUTH_SALT', '=80!,#9rId.(^Q+s7ub!JPVwrcwfQH>`4SU9:|&Z(|e> j_6~,urJe=J8D5|pRmg');
define('LOGGED_IN_SALT',   '5hvAc]8!^Y=H~u![*KoY `9kAKC&w,UaN(zm4{2<Woz`56CXzIs|t9,{ZO5(p{w`');
define('NONCE_SALT',       '5JdVj]`*lk;*#B$r=2D$+.HkTs-Am!}_ki*+5yK-h`LruHT[?GGJ?bM80%He,iI9');

The cornerstone is working fine again:

Cheers!
