Cornerstone Not Responding

Hi there!

I just updated Cornerstone and X Theme, and I am having an issue with Cornerstone loading. I read similar topics that were older. I have cleared browser and server cache, deactivated plugin’s but it still is not working.

Can you please advise?

Lawrence

Hello Lawrence,

Thanks for asking. :slight_smile:

Please follow up the steps below:

  1. Ensure everything is up to date according to our version compatibility list here. Please follow the best practices when updating your theme and plugins. Click here for more information.
  2. Go to X > Settings and click on the Clear Style Cache button.
  3. Reset your htaccess file by renaming it to .htaccess-bak. Then in WP Admin Menu, go to Settings > Permalinks and just click the Save Changes button.
  4. Increase the PHP Memory Limit of your server. Click here for more detailed information and how to increase the PHP memory limit.

If you still have problems kindly get back to us with the result of the steps above and URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard using the Secure Note functionality of the post to follow up the case.

Thank you.

Please give us htaccess access also.

Thanks.

Sorry, just updated the secure note to have the username and password. It is on Managed Hosting so I don’t have HTACCESS access, is there something I need to direct them to do?

Hi There @riddickagency

I have checked your server configurations by installing the following plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-serverinfo/) which you can access those information by head over to Dashboard -> WP Serverinfo.

I see couple of possible issues here.

  1. PHP Memory Limit - Your PHP memory limit is set to 128MB. If you can directly increase the memory limit through your hosting control panel, please increase it to 512MB. Or else, try following our guide here (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/troubleshooting-increasing-php-memory-limit/16935).

  2. Max Script Execution Time- Your current max script execution time is set to 30 seconds. We recommend to increase it to 120 or higher. You can refer to the following guide here (https://www.simplified.guide/php/increase-max-execution-time).

If you have correctly set those configurations, you should see the updated information when you head over to Dashboard -> WP Serverinfo. If it is not updating, you need to contact your hosting provider to change those configurations.

After doing those changes, try loading your Cornerstone builder and test.

Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!

Hi there!

My hosting provider, made the necessary Max Script Execution Time and Memory changes, however it is still hanging up. I have cleared Cornerstone cache, browser cache, server cache. Again, Cornerstone’s loading just keeps spinning. I have pushed the changes to the live site, just mitigate any issues for troubleshooting. Login info is the same as in the secure note.

Please advise.

Hi Lawrence,

I checked your memory limit and max execution time and it’s still the same.

Please contact your hosting provider again.

Thanks

On the live site, it is updated. Which I mentioned in the last message. I have updated the info in the private note to reflect the new login info.

I opened your home page in Cornerstone and it’s working fine. Editing and saving works.

Please clear your browser cache and check again. Also check in incognito mode and other browsers.

If you have browser extensions, please temporarily deactivate all of them also.

I also see that you have 2 X themes in your site. You have the latest one which you renamed and you have an old version.

Please do not edit the parent theme to avoid issues. Also delete the old version just for good measure.

Thanks.

Thanks, it is loading now. As many times as I cleared browser cache and loaded in incognito mode, not sure what changed.

Is there a reason everything is shifted to the left in the preview, but looks fine on front end just like your screenshot? This was not the case before.

Hi There,

I recommend you to change the folder name of X theme from yougotblessed_x to x.

After that find this custom CSS:

.h-resp-main {
    max-width: 15em;
    margin: 0;
}

And change to this:

.h-resp-main {
    margin: 0;
}

Hope it helps :slight_smile:

hi

i have exactly the same issue - and nothing of what you suggest works for me

i have some pages that i cannot open in cornerstone - the logo heartbeats for ever and i cannot open the structure neither

for other pages the logo heartbeats but i can change the content in the structure

it s not the first time i need to spend hours to solve things like this after an update
it s very very very frustrating and i deeply regret that i have built my website in x + cornerstone

Hi There @jovanhove

Please check this detailed troubleshooting guidelines here (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/my-pages-are-not-saved-with-cornerstone/47281/2?u=mldarshana). If you’re still having issues, please open up a new thread and post your login credentials in a secure note to check your issue further.

Thanks!

This is quite frustrating. This issue is recurring for me. It has not been resolved even though I followed all of the steps.

This has to be a plugin caching issue. After clearing server and browser cache like 5 times in a row, it started working again. Not sure if I am out of the woods, but it is working for me right now.

Hello @RiddickAgency,

Good to know that it is working again. I that happens again, I would recommend that before your use Cornerstone, please temporarily deactivate your caching plugins. Caching plugins are best to turn ON when you are done editing or have finished developing your site. It is also useful so that you can see all your changes right away and not the cache version of the page or site.

Regards.

hi - would upgrading to pro be a better option ? looking at the video, i would get rid of cornerstone or not ?

Hey @jovanhove,

Pro would be best if you:

  • Need a custom header that is assignable globally or specific pages, posts, and custom post types.
  • Don’t want to update Cornerstone separately. Cornerstone is integrated in Pro and it’s called the Content Builder.
  • Want to have access to the Design Cloud

You could not import a demo (https://theme.co/x/demos/) in Pro though so if that is important, you should continue using X.

Thanks.
