I have three cornerstone - ThemeX licenses. For some reason i get the message that cornerstone is not validated even after I enter the license code into the required filed. As a result, I am unable to update the plugin. Please advise.

Thanks for writing in! You only need to validate X Theme and you don’t need to validate Cornerstone plugin or any other extensions that comes with X theme.
In your case, if you get a user interface to enter Cornerstone license, that means either your X theme is corrupted or you’re using an older version of X theme. Also it could be that your Cornerstone plugin is corrupted as well.
First check the X theme and Cornerstone version numbers installed on your site by referring to our version information here (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/troubleshooting-version-compatibility/195) and then update your theme manually for once by following our update guide here (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-updating-your-themes-and-plugins/62).
You can also locate the Cornerstone.zip file when you unzip your X.zip theme file (x/framework/cornerstone.zip). Then you can use that plugin file to re-install Cornerstone plugin.
