Cornerstone issue (Preview won't load)

Scouted the forum but nothing helped. I attached the screenshot of the error message to this post. Any ideas how to solve? Thanks so much guys!

Hi Fred,

Thanks for writing in! Could you please try following our general troubleshooting guidelines below and see if you can isolate the issue. Most possible causes are due to caching or plugin conflicts. Also check your PHP version and memory limit.

  1. Ensure everything is up to date according to our version compatibility list here. Please follow the best practices when updating your theme and plugins. Click here for more information.
  2. Go to X/Pro > Settings and click on the Clear Style Cache button.
  3. If you’re using a CDN, please clear the CDN’s cache and disable optimization services.
  4. Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third-party plugins, and see if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.
  5. Remove custom CSS and Javascript from the Theme Options or Child Theme and test the case.
  6. Reset your htaccess file by renaming it to .htaccess-bak. Then in WP Admin Menu, go to Settings > Permalinks and just click the Save Changes button.

If you still have problems kindly get back to us with the result of the steps above and URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard using the Secure Note functionality of the post to follow up the case.

Let us know how it goes.
Thank you.

Hi There,

Thank you for the credentials, I have checked the site and notice your version of X and Cornerstone is not compatible. Your Cornerstone is up to date (v3.3.8) but you leave the X theme behind (v4.6.1), since that is an outdated version of X theme a few minor things might need adjustment on your site when you update X in the latest version (v6.3.8).

If you’re not comfortable updating the X theme for now as it might cease your live site operation, my advice would downgrade your Cornerstone to a compatible version of X instead. To do this, please navigate to plugins panel, deactivate and delete your Cornerstone, then navigate to X Addons panel, wait for a few seconds and X will automatically reinstall a compatible version of Cornerstone for you.

Remember to clear all your caching features (plugin, server-side, CDN, and browser’s cache) after updating/downgrading so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

After that, duplicate your site to a staging environment and do your updates there first so we can troubleshoot any issue that may occur after updating without sacrificing the live site operation.

Read my reply here, about updating the site from outdated versions.

Hope it helps,
Cheers!

I figured updating the X theme would be easiest so I did. I disable all cache plugins, cleared the cache in settings
but it’s still not working. Very strange. Would you happen to have any other suggestions?

Also, I deleted cornerstone and then went to the addons page. Just to be sure it’s running the correct version. Didnt help either Im afraid.

Hey Fred,

Your pages are working fine on my end.

Please try clearing your browser’s cache. If you have browser extensions, please temporarily deactivate all of them. Also try in incognito mode and other browsers.

Thanks.
