Cornerstone edit issue after SSL install

Hi there,

After SSL install it seems I’m no longer able to edit my X theme content in cornerstone. The cornerstone option appears but when i click it cornerstone no longer recognizes and displays the content sections already in place. It appears like a blank page with no sections to edit.

Any direction appreciated. SSL install is correct. All steps done and each page verified to be working without conflicts.

Also, as part of the original reason to look into it. My two images on the homepage that were added through cornerstone do not appear.

Note: all images were converted http > https

I think these are being displayed basedon id’s?

Hello Matt,

Thanks for writing in!

To resolve this issue, please install Really Simple SSL plugin. Once the plugin is active, go to Settings > SSL and make sure that all the recommended settings are active.

After that, you may need to install Better Search and Replace plugin. You will have to search for http://example.com/wp-content/uploads/ and replace it with https://example.com/wp-content/uploads/

You must replace http://example.com/ with your own domain url by the way.

Kindly let us know how it goes.

Hi @RueNel Thank you for the instructions.

Still experiencing issues

  1. Better search - URLS have already been replaced. I tried to search the uploads link specifically provided and there are zero to replace (they should already be done)
  2. SSL - All the items except the premium items look fine. Screenshot attached.

Any next steps to investigate appreciated.

@RueNel did you receive secure note? has there been any progress? Thanks for your assistance on this issue.

Hello Matt,

Thanks for updating in! I have checked your pages and it seems that they have been created in Cornerstone and then later on edited outside of Cornerstone by which using the WP editor. This has corrupted the cornerstone data which is why they just appears empty when you edit the pages back in Cornerstone.

Normally, when the cornerstone data is in tack as being saved in the page/post meta, you can see the “Edit Page” under the X menu in the admin bar.

Actually it is not because of the SSL plugin that you have installed. It means that the cornerstone data is really corrupted after you may have accidentally edited the pages outside of the Cornerstone builder. Right now, we cannot no longer find the “Edit Page”.

To get around this, you may need to revert to the previous state of the page by using the Revision feature of WordPress. And if everything fails, then you may need to recreate the pages from scratch instead.

Kindly let us know how it goes.

Hi @RueNel if this is the case I’m very disapointed with the theme / setup.

The only changes outside of Cornerstone were made based on feedback in the support forum about adding image gallery which for some reason is not built into theme / cornerstone.

It seemed to work fine but later decides not to work for no reason? I can see through your image that Cornerstone is not working (that was the reason that I sent original question). How are you sure that any specific edits caused issue? It seems like this is very buggy if a simple [lightbox] addition can cause so many issues.

Also the timing of issue suggests it was the URL updates through Plugin not the or SSL that caused the issue. It was working fine until this process

Hi Matt,

I saw [lightbox] shortcode on most of your pages outside [/cs_content], did you added those [lightbox] shortcode within Wordpress default editor (Gutenberg)? If so, that’s a no-no, you should not edit Cornerstone built-in pages outside of Cornerstone, else this is what happens, the serialize data Cornerstone needed will be lost.

You could have paste your shortcode within Cornerstone using the Content Area element or Raw Content element.

The only thing you can do now is either to rebuild the pages in Cornerstone or restore to the previous date before the page was edited outside of Cornerstone.

Thanks,
