Cornerstone cannot load large pages after update

Hi there,

On my website I have a fairly large page https://thelanguagesherpa.com/russian-guide/

Before the update Cornerstone would sometimes take a bit of time to load the content editor up when I wanted to alter the page. This was understandable as it is a large page and there are a lot of sections to load.

However, since updating to the latest version of Pro when I now try to load up the page all I see is the blue Cornerstone loading icon throbbing for about five minutes, and then - if I’m very lucky - the content will slowly begin to load (although, even then, some sections never fully load). This makes it impossible to work.

This basically means that the page cannot now be edited as it cannot be loaded.

I’m assuming that something is going wrong here and it’s not the case that Cornerstone is unable to support large pages now?

Thank you,
LS

P.S. I have cleared all the caches.

Hi LS,

Thanks for writing in! I see that you’re using CloudFlare. You need to clear it’s cache as well by login into their account. Also head over to CloudFlare’s Speed tab and disable CSS/Javascript autominification options. Further I suggest you to disable rocket loader temporarily and test your site.

In the meantime, also make sure that you’re running at least PHP v5.6.x or higher on your server and the recommended memory limit would be 512MiB. You can check those information by installing this plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-serverinfo/) and head over to Dashboard -> WP-Serverinfo area. If you need to increase memory limit, please refer to the guide here (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/troubleshooting-increasing-php-memory-limit/16935).

Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!

Hi Darshana,

I have cleared the CloudFlare cache and have tested Cornerstone with CSS/Javascript autominification and Rocket Loader disabled, but it is still incredibly slow.

Also, I used the plugin you suggested and it is saying that my PHP is v7.0.30 and my memory limit is 768…

Thanks,
LS

Would you mind providing WordPress admin and FTP credentials in a secure note? We could take a closer look at what might be causing this.

Sure thing

Hey @riugn557,

I checked the page with long content and it loaded in Cornerstone after clicking the “Try Again” button the second time. It took a long time (around 8 mins) for Cornerstone to completely load the whole page with complete element content (see Secure Note of my recordings). Once completely loaded Cornerstone will work fast. I could not comment on the performance though so I’ll post this to our issue tracker so our lead developer would be made aware. Please stay tuned.

It would also be best to give us cPanel access.

Thanks.
