Content gone missing & issue "preview missing html close"

Hi there,

All the content of my home page “Welcome” has disappeared. I did not delete it, it has just disappeared. I’m not sure why this happened & could it please be restored? I really need it back.

Also this message about "The preview HTML did not include a closing " keeps coming up on all my pages when I go to edit them.

Thanks for your help
Heike

Hi Heike,

Thank you for writing in! Please clear all your site’s caching feature (Plugins, server-side, CDN, and browser’s cache), and see if that resolves the issue. We might also need you to deactivate your caching plugins while we tackle this issue. And whatever you do, do not edit that page outside of Cornerstone.

Ensure you are fully up to date. WordPress, Theme, and Cornerstone.

Version Compatibility
Updating Your Themes and Plugins

If the issue remains, please do a testing for a plugin conflict.

  • Disable all plugins except Cornerstone. If you’re using Pro, disable all plugins.
  • Test to see if the issue remains.
  • If things are working again, reactivate one of your plugins
  • Test to see when the problem reappears
  • If it does, you know the plugin you most recently activated is causing a problem. If it doesn’t, go reactivate another plugin.

Let us know how it goes,
Cheers!

Hi Friech,

Thanks for writing back. I tried all of those things & unfortunately the page has not come back - its ok, I can redo it, but I was just wondering how or why this may have happend so I can avoid the issue in future.

Thanks,
Heike

Hi Heike,

I am not sure what happened there.

I checked and you homepage is already empty.

Did you try to edit the page outside cornerstone?

You can install this third party plugin to create back up of your site.

In case you forgot how your homepage looks like you can check google cache

Thanks

Hi Paul, I dont know what happened either :frowning:
Thanks sooo much for the tips though! Will definitley back up in future & install that plugin
thanks everyone

Hi Heike,

The most common cause of issue like this is the page is edited outside the Cornerstone. Second to that is when an update (any update, but this is rarely happen) changes something in the database that affects the serialize data that Cornerstone uses to read the page. Can you recall what update you did recently, maybe on your hosting side they did update something? Pretty sure this is not with the WordPress and Theme update because I have not seen this issue these days (actually this is the only one of its kind).

Have a great day,
Cheers!
