Child Theme without Wiping Parent Theme?

I know where to find the instructions to install a child theme, which i clearly should have done in the beginning, but failed to do so. My concern is that if i download, install, and activate a child theme, won’t it overwrite my parent theme? How do i copy my existing website into the child theme itself so that I don’t end up having to start over completely? It took a while to get to where my site is now, I’d rather not lose any of that work. https://vitalitycbd.com.

Thank you for writing in! No, child themes do not overwrite parent themes, your site should be fine if you switch directly from parent theme to the child theme.
