Child theme install not working

Hi there,

I’m trying to install a child theme for my new website which is using Pro. When I upload the .zip file and click install now I get the following message:

Unpacking the package…

Installing the theme…

Destination folder already exists. /home/thelan78/public_html/wp-content/themes/pro-child/

Theme installation failed.

Do you know what is going wrong here?

Thank you!
LS

Hello @riugn557,

Thanks for asking.

You need to login FTP and delete pro-child folder under /public_html/wp-content/themes/ and then reinstall child theme again. You can refer following article for some help on FTP:

Thanks.

Hi Prasant,

Thank you for your help.

I deleted the folder and then reinstalled pro-child and this is the message I received:

Unpacking the package…

Installing the theme…

This theme requires a parent theme. Checking if it is installed…

The parent theme could not be found. You will need to install the parent theme, pro, before you can use this child theme.

Theme installed successfully.

This is despite the fact that I have pro installed and working. Do you know what is going on here? (I will attach login details incase you need them)

Thank you,
LS

Hi there,

Did you happen to rename the folder name of pro in wp-content/themes to a different one? If so, kindly try to rename it back to pro that is all lowercase.

Hope this helps.

Hi Jade,

That worked perfectly, thank you!

LS

You’re welcome, glad we could help.

Cheers!
