Change maximum amount of portfolio items per page

Hi there, I have a portfolio page which contains 50 items approximately. I want to show them in one page but i can’t increase the maximum value more than 28 items per page. I’m changing it to 50 ipp but it’s not going to take effect and changes to 28 ipp again. How can I change it to another value? Thanks you…
