Category List Posts within Pages

Hello,

I am looking to add the category list posts to certain pages at the bottom. Basically I want to add the “Blog” category to the lower half of a page depending on the country someone is searching.

Example: https://independenttravelcats.com/category/travel-destinations/united-kingdom/

If you look at the Country Destinations with the United Kingdom they have images leading to the specific country but also a list of all relevant posts at the bottom. Is there a way to do this with x theme pro?

I posted this on Peer to Peer a week ago, but no replies yet.

Hey Crystal,

Thanks for writing in! Your example url is a custom category page archive. You can replicate this in Pro by modifying the category archive. You will need to create a custom header for the archive pages. With the help of global blocks, you can insert the global block into your custom header to display the “Categories within United Kingdom” while the rest of the page will display the recent post items of that particular Country which is the United Kingdom.

If you have a current Pro installations, the post items is already present. Just visit http://www.your-domain-here.com/category/category-name/. What is only missing is that the Sub Category links above and this is what you need to create by using the Global Block and insert in a custom header.

At the moment, your current blog set up is using a standard style. Simply go to Pro > Theme Options > Blog > Archive and select “Masonry” as your style to have a Masonry grid display for the post items.

Hope this makes sense.

Hello! So I was able to make that change, but I was hoping to insert all of the blog posts for a specific category to specific pages. I think I am missing something about creating global blocks - for example I would like to have all United Kingdom related blog posts below the two images on this page: https://wanderingcrystal.com/destinations/united-kingdom/ and have the top images clickable if they are only interested in seeing the blogs about either Scotland or England.

Are you able to clarify what I am missing about adding in the category to the bottom of a page like this?

Thank you for your help!

Hello Crystal,

By default, all your blog posts or specific blog post can only be displayed in the blog index or archive pages such as your current category page for Europe and Edinburg. You cannot insert these posts with the current WordPress settings. You will need to install TheGrid plugin or the Essential Grid plugin to create a grid that displays your blog posts and then take this grid to be displayed on a normal page. You can install the plugins by going to X > Validation > Extensions. For more details about these plugins, please check this:

Hope this helps.
