Cannot open ThemeX settings or cornerstone. URL is incorrect

Hi there.
I’m having problems accessing the theme options and cornerstone.
When I click on either of those from within the wordpress admin I go to http://www.barefootdesign.com.au/x/#/content
I have to manually remove the ‘/#’ from the path to make it work. I have tried resaving permalinks but don’t know what else to try. Why is the path incorrect?

Hi there,

Actually, the URL with the # is the correct URL. Please follow the troubleshooting steps below:

  1. Ensure everything is up to date according to our version compatibility list here. Please follow the best practices when updating your theme and plugins. Click here for more information.
  2. If you’re using a CDN, please clear the CDN’s cache and disable optimization services.
  3. Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third-party plugins, and see if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.
  4. Remove custom CSS and Javascript from the options or Child Theme and test the case.
  5. Reset your htaccess file by renaming it to .htaccess-bak. Then in WP Admin Menu, go to Settings > Permalinks and just click the Save Changes button.
  6. Increase the PHP Memory Limit of your server. Click here for more detailed information and how to increase the PHP memory limit.

If you still have problems kindly get back to us with the result of the steps above and URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard using the Secure Note functionality of the post to follow up the case.

Thank you.

Ok, I see. I’ve tried all of above. I’ll send URL/User/Pass in secure note.

HI there,

Have you tried testing for a plugin conflict to see if it is a third party plugin that is causing the issue? If you haven’t kindly check this first so that we’ll be sure that it is not a plugin that is causing this.

If you already tested for plugin conflict, try logging in through FTP and renaming the .htacccess field then reflushing the permalinks in the admin settings.

If the issue persist, please also provide us with your ftp details so that we can check this further.

Thank youl

Hi Jade

Like I said in my previous post, I’ve tried all the suggestions.

I have just found a folder called ‘x’ that was in the WP root directory. It must have been messing with things and stopping http://www.barefootdesign.com.au/x/#/content from loading properly. I deleted it and now cornerstone loads but the preview isn’t working on several pages I try to edit in Cornerstone and I get this message: The preview was unresponsive after loading. This is most often related to a plugin conflict or aggressive page cacheing. See here: http://www.barefootdesign.com.au/x/#/content/54/layout

Hello there,

I can confirm that you’re right and it wasn’t a plugin cache issue.

Can you share your FTP login details in a Secure Note so we can check further? I’m thinking that there’s a internal cache problem on your Wordpress folders, or your X - Barefoot child theme might be a culprit.

Thank you.

FTP details sent

Hi There,

Upon testing this issue further, I was actually able to load Cornerstone options and Cornerstone builder (see secure note). Did you encounter any error messages or the builder was just hang up ?.

Try testing it on a different browser and see how it is going to be loading. I have tested this on both Firefox and Chrome browser.

Thanks!

Thank you for your reply but if you check this URL I am sure you will find that the Cornerstone preview is not working. http://www.barefootdesign.com.au/x/#/content/54/layout I’ve tried several browsers. This is when editing the Portfolio page.

Hey @Barfeootjaye,

I saved that page as a template and loaded it in a test page and at first, it loaded in Cornerstone but when I loaded it again, the issue persists in the new page so the issue might be related to the content of the page which is Essential Grid. Would you mind uninstalling Essential Grid and then install it again via X > Validation. Also update Slider Revolution. Though it’s unlikely related, both plugins come from the same developer so updating might prevent other issues.

Thanks.

Hi Christian,

I’ve done that. Slider Revolution was up to date as of 3 days ago so I don’t think that was it but I updated it to today’s version.
After uninstalling Essential Grid and then install it again via X > Validation my gallery has gone from the portfolio page and I still can’t edit the page in Cornerstone.
No progress I’m afraid.

Hi,

I would like to further check but the ftp login provided doesn’t seem to have the right access.

When I login I could not see your wordpress files, I am getting a blank directory.

Do you mind double checking it and send us the correct login.

Thanks

They seem to be correct:

Hi there,

Could you try it again? It’s now loading on my end. I resaved the X > Setting then flushed the permalinks.

Thanks!

I can edit some pages but as per my earlier reply I cannot edit this page: http://www.barefootdesign.com.au/x/#/content/54/layout
See my screenshot above.

Hey @Barfeootjaye,

I did some more testing. I created two test pages. I first created http://www.barefootdesign.com.au/x-support-test/ and imported the contents of the affected page (http://www.barefootdesign.com.au/x/#/content/54/layout) there. Like my previous test, it did not load in Cornerstone the second time. I created test page 2 http://www.barefootdesign.com.au/x-support-test-2/ and it worked fine. I went back to test page 1 and deleted the imported section and added in some elements and it worked. Based on my tests, it looks like there is something in your site conflicting with Essential Grid but there is no error in the console. Can you try using The Grid plugin instead?

I tried to login using your FTP credentials and it looks like the credentials are correct but it won’t connect (see Secure Note)

Thanks
