Cannot browse and select image in Cornerstone

Hi!

I was just about to edit a gallery page where I have a lot of “classic image” modules. But I cannot browse to get to the media gallery and choose a new image. Tried to insert an image module (not classic), but same thing there.

WP 5.0.2

I recently activated SSL certificate via Cloudflare. After that I got some issues with other stuff, like Contact form 7 for example. Could https be the reason?

Hello Markus,

Please install the Better Search Replace plugin then do the following:

search for http://www.markusp.se and replace it with https://www.markusp.se and
search for http:\/\/www.markusp.se and replace it with https:\/\/www.markusp.se

Hope this helps.

Well… I haven’t had a chance to try it yet. I did like you wrote with the Better Search Replace plugin after I took a backup via Updraft plus. I also noticed there was a new version of X, so I updated that.

But, now when I click into edit mode in X, the whole site just stacks all sections on top of each other and it all looks wrong. I have emptied all caches in Cloudflare.

Hi @markusp80,

Thank you for the credentials, but would you mind to guide us on how replicate the issue? I did checked your homepage with Classic Image element and I can browse the Media Library properly.

Hello!

The issue only seems to occur when I try to do it on my iMac at home. Now I’m at work and I opened Cornerstone on my PC, duplicated a Classic Image module and pressed the browse button. It worked just fine.

I assume you are using a PC? I use Chrome on both PC and Mac. I also tried Safari on my Mac yesterday but same problem there.

The issue occurs both on new/empty Image modules and on Classic Image modules that are already on the page. I can remove the image from the module, that works, but when I click the same spot to browse the image gallery, nothing happens.

I have tried to empty the style cache in X settings, and purge all caches in Cloudflare.

Hi,

I tried on mac safari but could not replicate the issue.
Seems to work fine on my end.

Can you create a video showing the issue.

Thanks

Hi!

That’s good to hear! I will try it later when I have access to my iMac and see if the issue is still there.

Maybe it’s something local on my computer then. If the issue still occurs I will record a video.

Sure, let us know how it goes.

Thanks.

I am clicking all I can. Everything works except when I want to click browse the media gallery…

Hi Mark,

I just tried it the same in your video and I’m able to insert the image after removing it. Please check this video https://www.dropbox.com/s/2dt4k028bms4krq/bandicam%202018-12-23%2001-20-37-860.mp4?dl=0

Please try clearing your browser cache or use another browser and test it again.

Thanks!

Sigh…

I cannot get my head around this!!!

I tried from my PC laptop and that worked fine in Chrome. But when I try with TWO different Mac computers it just does not work. I tried from my iMac and from my MacBook. On the Macbook, Cornerstone just looked all scrambled. The columns did not work and not the navigation menu either, it just stacked everything on top of each other.

I have cleared the style cache in X, purged all caches in Cloudflare several times and cleared the cache in Chrome. Btw, just to be sure, could you inform exactly how to clear the browser cache in Chrome?

I have tried on Chrome and Safari, same problem! It feels like it has something to do with my local Mac computers? I have disabled AdBlock on the entire domain markusp.se, but that did not make any difference. I also tried incognito mode but that did not help either.

Could it be some kind of virus?

Here is a video of when I just tried editing a blog post I just created in Cornerstone, using my iMac and Chrome:

Hello @markusp80,

I am another staff checking in. I have created a test page and I was able to insert an image using the v2 image element and the classic image element.

This issue could be just a browser specific. Which browser are you using? Please make sure that you are using the latest browser version. Please disable any browser extensions. There might be an extension that is causing the issue. And lastly, please clear your browser cache or use private browsing mode in testing your site.

Hope this helps. Please let us know how it goes.

Well, I have no idea what’s going on here…

I can edit the pages and blog posts on my PC, but on both my Macs it just doesn’t work properly. When I had added the images I wanted in my blog post, on my PC, and then went over to my Mac and opened the blog post in Cornerstone, the images are missing, like this:

Then I downloaded Firefox, which has never been installed on my Mac before, and opened the same blog post in Cornerstone. Then it looks like this, same as on Chrome on my MacBook:

I have emptied all the caches I can empty in Chrome. And Firefox should not even have a cache since it was just installed…

I think I have solved the issue!

I went into Cloudflare settings and activated “Development mode”, and now the image browsing feature works fine both on pages and blog posts.

Strangely enough, I also get the feeling that Cornerstone and my whole page loads FASTER with Cloudflare in development mode, with bypassing the cache. I will keep it like this for now and see how it goes.

Have you had any other experiences with Cornerstone acting weird when people are using Cloudflare or any other CDN?

Hello @markusp80,

Yes that is what I noticed that you are using CloudFlare. In that case, please make sure that you are using the recommended CloudFlare settings. Please check this out: https://xthemetips.com/using-cloudflare-rocket-loader-with-x-pro-and-x5/928/8/

Hope this helps.
