Basic font issues

Hi there,

I’m having basic issues trying to change fonts within the customiser, and I can’t tell if it’s a bug, or something I’m doing wrong.

Essentially, when I change the font in the “Body Font” dropdown, nothing happens. Yet when I change the “Body Font Colour” that works fine.

I also can’t see any Typekit fonts in the font dropdown, yet I know that they’ve been correctly added in the “Kit Integration” section.

Why isn’t there a way to reduce the number of Google Fonts in the Dropdowns for font? Why would anyone want the choice of hundreds of fonts every time they go to a dropdown!?

I have to say in general the UX of this theme is really poor - I was excited to begin using X Theme but the learning curve to achieve basic things is so unnecessarily steep. I really hope you listen to users in the next update and try to address UX basics rather than concentrating on new features.

Hi There @DenDen

Thanks for writing in! If you’re using a caching plugin or using a service like CloudFlare, you need to clear those caches as well before testing. Or it could be that from another customization added to your site or another plugin override those settings as well. If you can setup a test page and provide us with the URL, we can look into that for you.

With regard to how to utilize Typekit, please follow our guide here (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/extension-typekit/88).

We’re planning on our new release as well which you can read it from here (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/extension-typekit/88).

Thanks!

Thanks for getting back to me…

I’ve disabled all my plugins except for Cornerstone and Typekit. The issue still seems to be happening.

Maybe you can have a look at my test site at https://stampede.studio/stampede-dev/? The fonts on there have been set in the customiser to be the system font Georgia. But as you can see they’re coming out as Proxima Nova. Using the developer tools, it’s not even clear where the Proxima Nova style has been set.

Any help much appreciated.

Hi @DenDen,

Yes, I confirm that it is Proxima Nova.

In this case, to determine which you have enabled or you have changed that causes this font, share us your admin credentials in a secure note.

Thanks

Sure, here we go…

Hi,

I checked under Theme Options > Typography and can see that your body Font was set to Body Copy

So I check your Font Manager and can see that Body Copy was set to Proxima Nova

You may disable Font Manager if you don’t like to use it.

Thanks

Ok thanks for the explanation. I think I’ll just disable the font manager and use CSS. Much easier.

You are most welcome.
