Background Video 100% Height to Fill Section

After trying several suggestions found in the forums, I’ve decided I need to see if I can get some advice on how to make this work. I’ve set a background video to a section, but can’t figure out how to get it to fill the section, so it’s letterboxed with black at the top and bottom on my test page: http://www.pmcgdev.com/jcd2018/bg-video-test-page/

This is a placeholder and the actual video will be very glitchy and noisy, so it’s not really an issue if it loses quality by scaling up to fill/cover the section. It’s currently not playing in Chrome for some reason, but that’s a secondary issue.

My first question is it’s even possible to get to work this way and if the answer to that is no, my second question is if there an alternate method to get a true full screen background video behind the page content site-wide?

Hi @JCD,

Thanks for writing in.

I have fixed the problem for you.

The changes I have made is to remove the id because it is causing a different CSS attributes and enabled parallax because your video size is not compatible with the background size.

You can now follow the background that I set up for your other backgrounds.

However, it is not perfect. It would be best that you will use revolution slider for this situation because your video is not compatible with the background size. Same as the video in our demo X theme - http://demo.theme.co/integrity-1/

Hope it helps.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks.

Hey Nico, thanks for taking a look. Did you make the edit to this page? http://www.pmcgdev.com/jcd2018/bg-video-test-page/ I ask as there is no change that I can see and I’ve refreshed and cleared my cache.

I love the idea of being able to use Revolution Slider as it plays without issue on all browsers (mine still isn’t working in Chrome), but near as I can tell, there isn’t any way to use it as a page background or otherwise under a layout made with Cornerstone elements as it would need to be above or below the header. I imported that demo on another install, but the slider didn’t come in, though I believe my assumptions above would be true.

Hello There,

Thanks for updating in. Yes you are right. The slider cannot be used as a page background in Cornerstone. We will be back to your original issue which is getting your video in the mentioned page. Please keep in mind that the height of the video will always be dependent and relative to the width of the video. The video background is also position to be on top and at the middle of the section content. If the section content is long enough, the video will be positioned at the middle. You cannot make it 100% the same height of the section content.

At the moment, we do not have any feature in the theme for you to insert a sitewide background video. We can add this a a feature request so it can be taken into consideration for future development.

Hope this helps.

Much as I wanted to have this execute entirely in Pro, I ended up just using a third party jquery player that worked like a charm and fills the entire body of the page with the video and no letterboxing. Thanks again for the help!

Thanks for letting us know!
