API KEY GOOGLE MAPS - Error

Hello

I am trying to set up a google map on the home page of my website https://www.westendduo.com

I have read all the threads and followed several guide and it still shows as an error and the map won’t show.

Can you please take a look and advise me how to address this

Thanks Tim

Hi Tim,

Thanks for reaching out.

First, I recommend updating your theme first as your cornerstone is already upgraded and it creates conflicts. You should have X 7.1.1 instead of X 5.2.5.

As for the map, the error is caused by non-activated API. Please check this https://wordpress.org/support/topic/google-maps-javascript-api-error-apinotactivatedmaperror/ and https://stackoverflow.com/questions/35700182/apinotactivatedmaperror-for-simple-html-page-using-google-places-api

Hope this helps.

Thanks I have tried to update everything and have even moved over to pro now as I am planning much more out of the box approach as I don;t want to get bogged down with complex code this time.

However, pretty surprised I don;t I am unable to install full site templates from the cloud and all the usual theme demos I worked with before have vanished and I am unable to access any demo content to work with. As mentioned this is the approach I wanted to take this time as I just wanted to work in a simple way.

UPDATE - I deactivated plugins and it appears to allow me to install from the cloud but I still don;t have all the demo site options I previously had can you help ?

Hello @Basstimg,

Please read our release notes:

What happened to Standard and Expanded demos?
Our former Expanded Demos are now called Sites and are included as part of Design Cloud. Importing a Site from Design Cloud works just like installing an Expanded Demo previously.

We have retired Standard Demos, although we will taking a select few of those designs and making new Sites from them.

If you need to install demo contents, please downgrade to the previous stable version of X and you should be able to install standard demo contents. You can always get the previous version from your APEX dashboard.

Hope this helps.

Thank you i did that and then decided to go back to pro as th demos required too much styling and trying to avoid previous issues and get a quick turn around with minimal stress!

I still haven’t sorted the map but TBh i will come back to that as i have more pressing issues with the overall site structure. I will post another support request to avoid confusing this post.

Hi @Basstimg,

I tried to check your site for the map issue but the password doesn’t work anymore. Google forces the Map users to have an API Key to show the map correctly. The Google Maps element will work provided your API does not have problems. The most common setting users miss is the API restriction. Please check your restriction settings and see if your site is allowed to use your API.

You can also checkout the following link as well https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/embed/get-api-key

Hope this helps!
