Added SSL and now live editing is gone

Hi there. I’ve engaged SSL on two different Pro sites in the last week and have lost the live editing window. The SSL is through GoDaddy. I have i-themes-security pro on both sites with the SSL engaged. All updates have been made and everything is current. I’d love to get the live editing back. Thank you.

Hi there,

Some URLs on your site might not be updated to https yet. Please install the Better Search Replace plugin then do the following:

search for http://example.com and replace it with https://example.com and
search for http:\/\/example.com and replace it with https:\/\/example.com

Replace example.com with the domain name of your site.

In case the issue persists, please try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Hope this helps.

Sorry, that didn’t work. The message, “The preview could not load. This is most often related to a plugin conflict or aggressive page cacheing. Checking the developer console for errors could indicate what went wrong.” replaces the live editing page. The only thing that has changed is enabling the ssl.

Hi There @CInno

Did you update your WordPress URLs under the Settings -> General section with https:// ?

Please follow this guide (https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-add-ssl-and-https-in-wordpress/) and make sure check the points mentioned.

Also there are 3rd party plugins like WP Force SSL (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-force-ssl/) which you can try.

Finally test your site using the following test tools and make sure that you don’t have any issues before testing.

If you’re still having issues, provide us with your WordPress login credentials in a secure note along with your FTP credentials to investigate it further.

Thanks!
