Add post type/excerpt to search results?

Hi,

I recently updated my search results page to to have a masonry layout as outlined in this post: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/search-result-page-customization/21966/5

It works great, but I was wondering if there was a way to have it display the Post Type and an excerpt is available.

I’m working on an e-learning site and if someone searches for a term, I would like for them to be able to tell the different between a lesson or a blog post or page with that term.

Thanks in advance!

Hello There,

Thanks for posting in!

By default custom post types is not included in search. To include, please check out this links as your reference:

Hope this helps.

Sorry I think there is some miscommunication. The post themselves are already showing up in my search. What I am looking to do is have the name of the post type displayed as well. Kind of like post meta along with an excerpt.

For Example I would like to see the following for each entry in the search results:
Post Name
Post Type
Featured Image
Excerpt

Currently there is only:
Post Name
Featured Image

Is it possible to modify the code I mentioned above to return the value of the name of the post type and then add an excerpt? I know I’ve seen similar with portfolio customization so I figure it should be possible.

Hi,

Regretfully what you are trying to achieve could only be possible with custom development, but this would be outside the scope of support we can offer. You may wish to consult a developer to assist you with this. X is quite extensible with child themes, so there are plenty of possibilities.

Thanks for understanding. Take care!
