5.2.2 not recognizing parent theme

Hi,

I’m using X with a child theme. I’ve just updated to version 5.2.2 and the child theme shows up as a line item in wp-admin > Appearance > Themes. Specifically, the line reads: “The parent theme is missing. Please install the “x” parent theme.”

X v5.2.2 is installed and activated. How can I fix this without deleting the child theme (the only other option presented in wp-admin)?

Thanks

Hello @smartdataseo,

Thanks for asking and extremely sorry for the trouble you are facing with X Theme. We will try our level best to help you out.

It seems that you haven’t assigned administrative level access to the account you have created. Can you please give administrative permissions to techsup account for us to take closer look? Having said that your theme file might have been corrupted while updating. Can you please try manually updating theme files? Here is the documentation that you can refer:

Thanks.

Hi @Prasant,

Admin permissions have been granted; sorry for that oversight. I did update the theme manually after an automatic install failed and I then reverted to an earlier backup point. Please let me know what you find.

Thanks,
–Eric

Hi Eric,

The child theme is corrupted. I can’t tell you which part is corrupted because we need FTP access to check. For the mean time, try to download a fresh copy of X child theme from your dashboard. Extract it and compare the content of that to the content of your child theme on your site. Inside child theme folder, functions.php and style.css is important. The following part of the child theme style.css file shows how it reference to main X theme:

/*

Theme Name: X – Child Theme
Theme URI: http://theme.co/x/
Author: Themeco
Author URI: http://theme.co/
Description: Make all of your modifications to X in this child theme.
Version: 1.0.0
Template: x

*/

Hope this helps.
