403 Forbidden

I’ve migrated my site over and have pointed my Domain Host to using the CNAME option. Now after waiting 48 hours I’m getting the following error message when navigating to my site…

Forbidden
You don’t have permission to access / on this server.

I’ve tried disabling all my plugins to see if one of them is the culprit but that didn’t work.

My preview url works just fine (although it takes 10 seconds or so before my site comes up which is very slow).

Any help would be great.

Hi There,

With the information provided, I am not sure where the Forbidden error is coming from. Please check this article: http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-the-403-forbidden-error-in-wordpress/. Please also check in with your hosting provider regarding the issue.

Hi Lely,

I’ve tried all those solutions on that website with no luck. What additional information can I give you to help you better fix my problem? Im an open book, I will tell you anything.

PS Attached is my google domains DNS setup

Hi there,

I checked and your site is still hosted in Siteground, and from your entry, it looks like you’re trying to point your domain in our hosting with CNAM flattening. I’m not sure if your domain registrar supports CNAME flattening, but you may try CloudFlare’s DNS Management instead (https://blog.cloudflare.com/introducing-cname-flattening-rfc-compliant-cnames-at-a-domains-root/).

  1. Change your domain nameservers to the nameservers given to you by CloudFlare
  2. Then within CloudFlare, point your domain using CNAME to strugglinginvestor.com.routing.yourhost.co (the same in your screenshot).

Hope this helps

Hi,

By the time you checked my DNS settings I had already begun the process of migrating my site to another host (SiteGround). I couldn’t wait any longer because my site had been down for over a week.

It took less then 24 hours for my DNS changes to take affect with the SiteGround hosting. My site was up and running very quickly.

I’m not sure what was going on with trying to point my DNS to Themeco, but all I got where 403 Forbidden errors. I had my nameservers changed to the CloudFlare ones and let it sit for 48+ hours and still the error. Your last reply said to change the nameservers AND then within CloudFalre point my CNAME to my routing url.

That last part was not made clear in the directions here (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/themeco-hosting-general-questions/189). It was probably my issue, but like I said before, I just couldn’t wait any longer.

I appreciate the help.
