on 06/11/2014 I downloaded the X theme zip for updating ( installable only ) from themeforest.net and during the UnZipping Extraction received two error messages ( unable to find path to file ‘shortcodes-intengrity-dark.scssc”) and ( unable to find path to file ‘shortcodes-icon.scssc ). Tried a couple of times — same thing.

I then “updated” my Win Zip to the latest version 18.5. and tried again with a new download… got the same thing.

I’m reluctant to use the extracted file setup for the update I planned, since I really don’t know what the issue is. Whether it’s a corrupted download ( both times) from ThemeForest or something on my end.

———————
However, I decided to try again the following day (6/12/2014) and re-downloaded the X theme zip ( installable only ) and tried extracting again.
This time it extracted properly. I then began unzipping the included files in the /framework/plugins sub directory. Two or the Three extracted ok until the last one js_composer.zip. On that file I received inumerable error messages from WinZip… all of which read: “Skipping file: unable to create a sensible filename out of: ( filename)”.

At that point I went back to the previous download of the (installable only) from 6/11 and experienced exactly the same response from WinZip as I had received on 6/11….

So I can’t extract the first one at all and the second download extracted ok until I tried extracting the sub directory zips.

So I’m still unable to utilize this download for updating the theme.

Would appreciate any help or advice you can offer.

Thank you.

BobP

You can install the theme in the wp admin Appearance > Theme > Add new > Upload theme > Select the .zip and upload it.

OR

Try using winrar or 7zip to extract it. (Google winrar or 7zip)

Thank you. 7zip extracted it nicely, but when I attempted manual upload, the upload failed on the file js-composer in the framework/plugin subdirectory..

I will try using the “Admin Upload” process, using the X zip file, but have another question.

This site is using the x-child-integrity-light Child setup. Will that be compatible with this 2.0.1 them update?

I appreciate any advice.

Hi Kirk,

Yes it will be compatible. But if you’re using older customization under your child theme then before you do it, make sure you also updated/merged new x core codes to your child theme customization.

For that, may I request an ftp login so I could check your child theme if needs additional changes prior to 2.3.1?

Let me know.

I tried the zip upload from the Admin area for the update and all went fine.

When you say “make sure you also updated/merged new x core codes to your child theme customization”, do you mean insuring that any functions used in the child theme customization are still valid in the new core update?

Or is there something else I’m not recognizing?

thank you for your comments and help.

Hi Kirk,

Yes, that’s what we’re saying. Version 2.0 had several structural changes, so it’s possible for child theme templates from previous versions to not work anymore. You may need to refactor your child theme customizations to work with the latest version of X.

Take care!
