Hi Team,
I was running an outdated version of WordPress, 3.x I think, and couldn’t seem to use either the MAP or the GOOGLE_MAP shortcode in the X theme, Renew. I’m using a Child Theme BTW.
I was seeing the iFrame code rather than any maps.
So, I updated to the latest version of WordPress, and still get this issue.Whatever I do, I can’t seem to get the map to actually display – all I see is the iFrame code.
Has anyone got any ideas?
I’m fairly new to the whole WordPress / X thing, and I still feel I’m finding my way slightly, but I’ve followed the examples on the X Theme Help pages, and copied example code from there too, and still see the same results.I’ve also tried this in IE, Firefox and Chrome!
Thanks in advance,

At the mean time, try adding the code in text editor.

November 7, 2014 at 2:56 am #140138I have managed to get the MAP shortcode working by pasting in the iFrame code whilst in the Text view of the editor rather than the Visual view – this has worked fine, but the GOOGLE_MAP shortcode still doesn’t work even after trying to paste this in in the same way.
The URL for my test page is here – http://thereferralsite.co.uk/home/categories/computing/computing_repairs/
You’ll see I’ve got a test MAP and a test GOOGLE_MAP in the first column. The MAP is now displaying fine, but I can’t get the GOOGLE_MAP to display – still see the iFrame code.
Not sure whether I’ve screwed something though, as I don’t see the GOOGLE_MAP shortcode as an option in the dropdown in the editor – not sure whether this gives any clues!?
Not sure whether I have the correct version of the Shortcodes, although there’s no message saying that I need to upgrade. Thanks guys – almost there!
November 7, 2014 at 3:04 am #140139Sorry for being dim, but do I need to download the GOOGLE_MAP shortcode as a new plugin from the WordPress site, or is this available from within X? I’ve just found a plugin called GOOGLE_MAP and feel a little silly now if this is what I need to install?
Is this is the solution, please just let me know and I’ll install and hang my head in shame, apologies.
November 7, 2014 at 8:07 am #140251Dear Team,
Sorry for wasting everyone’s time here, but I’ve finally worked out what’s wrong.
The first issue as I stated was that I hadn’t copied the <iframe>tyusxtyuxs</iframe> code in to the shortcode, using Text.
I’d copied it in whilst in the Visual View, which must have screwed the paste.
Solved! The second issue was that I could get google_map shortcode working.
It turns out that I was running an older version of the X Theme that had an outdated version of the Shortcodes plugin.
I updated X to the latest version (by following on line steps – thanks BTW!), and then had a new version of the Shortcodes to update and instal – once this had been done, voila!, google_map works as a valid shortcode.I would just say though, that the google_map shortcode is still not available in the editor shortcode drop down – not sure whether it should be there or not though!
Thanks again for the help guys – as usual – all good!
Regards,

Glad to hear you’ve figured it out yourself 🙂
Regarding the shortcode dropdown unavailability, I’ll refer this to our development team.
Thank you and have a good day! 🙂
