Thanks for writing in! For Cornerstone navigate to Settings > Cornerstone then allowed the post types you want to edit in Cornerstone.

For VC navigate to Visual Composer > General Settings then enable which Content types.

Sorry for the confusion. Yes you might be able to edit the portfolio item post in Cornerstone. However, you will be limited to whatever layout you have. You can not have a fullwidth layout just like the post or a page using the Blank – No Container page template.

The portfolio item post layout varies in each stack. Mostly, the layout is divided in 2 columns. The description on the left and the extra information on the right. When you use Cornerstone, you can only change the description but not the whole layout.
