<a href=“#…”> link not working

Good evening,

Could you please help me with this?

My web has got a link but when I try to click it doesn´t go to eg: www.mysite.com/#popup1

Thank you.

Hi there,

Please check for the following:

  • There should just one element of the page with the ID popup1. If there are other sections or elements with the same ID, try renaming them.
  • Check for Javascript errors. Please follow the guide here. If you see some JS error, try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.
  • If the issue is still there, please make sure that you have everything updated to the latest version especially for X and Cornerstone. You can find more info about the support versions of X and its bundled plugins here.

In case the issue persists, please provide us with the URL of the site in question.

I have tried to disable the plugins and I can not update the theme and cornerstone because the web breaks

this is my site with the button

Hey @milagroscruzado,

Please fix the https issue in your site first as it could a cause of different issues.

Once that is done, please update Cornerstone as it really needs to get updated for other features of X to function properly like the mobile menu.

Regarding your pop up, it looks like its script is broken. Probably because of the HTTPS issue other reasons. Are you also using a third party plugin for that popup?

Please fix the HTTPS issue first and update Cornerstone. If that does not help, please give us WordPress Admin in a Secure Note so we could check your setup.

It would also be best that you copy your site to a staging server so we could safely troubleshoot. You can follow the guide at https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-create-staging-environment-for-a-wordpress-site/

Thanks.

I have already corrected the problem with the https

this popup does not use script or third party plugin is a simple code

and I repeat I can not update the theme and cornerstone because the web breaks

Thanks for fixing your HTTPS setup. I could clearly see the issue and the cause now. I’ve also realized that the hint is in the title of this thread. Sorry about that.

It’s because of X Smooth Scroll script for all links. Regretfully, there is no way to get around that but to use a pop up method that does not use a link with #. That setup is also not recommended because that is not the natural use of the fragment identifier. A pop up should be powered by Javascript.

What you could do since you’re not using Cornerstone is to create a Global Block with a Content Modal Element. Then, use the global block’s shortcode and add it to your content. To clearly see what I mean, please watch the screencast at https://youtu.be/OrbY6q1WjS8

Regarding updating X and Cornerstone, thankfully, this issue is not related to updates. It is still recommended though. You might encounter another issue in the future and updating might be really necessary especially for compatibility for major updates of WordPress and other plugins.

Thanks.

Thanks for pointing me to this tool. I did not know her.

with this tool you can create a modal but without the button?

Hi @milagroscruzado,

It always requires a button for the trigger, and the button is there along with modal.

Thanks!
